Mount Vernon Library Embraces Solar Power for a Sustainable Future!
Ellensburg Solar LLC recently completed an innovative solar installation as part of the new Mount Vernon Library Commons Project in Mount Vernon, Washington. The project, set to be completed in September 2024, features the installation of 350 Silfab Prime panels, for a total system size of 129.5kW. These panels are supported by custom steel awning and carport-style racking, designed and fabricated by B&B Fabricators. To maximize efficiency, the system utilizes SolarEdge optimizers and a 100kW SolarEdge 480v inverter, combined to produce an estimated first-year production of 119,569 KWH. This state-of-the-art setup ensures that the library will benefit from clean and sustainable energy for years to come.

Mount Vernon Library Commons Project Details
The Mount Vernon Library Commons project is located in historic downtown Mount Vernon and represents a $53 million investment in the local economy. It serves as a catalyst for economic development in the Cascadia Innovation Corridor, stretching between Seattle and Vancouver, BC.
This project includes public library services, community center space, a commercial kitchen, public restrooms, a park-and-ride facility, a transit stop, and structured parking designed with the largest public electric vehicle charging center in the USA.
The public parking structure will host 276 parking stalls, 4 DCFCs, and 72 Level 2 variable EV chargers. Designed to Passive House standards, the project aims to reduce energy use by 80% and achieve a 40% reduction in Global Warming Potential (GWP) in the concrete mix. It also features a 112,000 kW solar array on the south elevation.
