Sun Light & Power (SLP) has helped energize the RYSE Youth Center with a powerful new 151.4 kW solar installation featuring Silfab Commercial solar panels in sunny Richmond, California. This project aligns with the center’s mission to foster a strong, healthy, and united community for future generations in West Contra Costa County. The system not only supports the center’s operational goals but also serves as an educational tool for local youth, showcasing the benefits of sustainable energy.
The RYSE Center consists of two buildings: the Commons and the Center building. The commercial solar system spans both, with the RYSE Commons building housing a 98 kW PV system that includes 200 Silfab Solar Commercial modules and a pair of SolarEdge Technologies SE43.2K inverters, connected to a 55 kWh battery from ELM Companies and IronRidge flush mount racking. The RYSE Center building features a 53.4 kW PV system with 109 Silfab Solar Commercial modules, an additional SolarEdge SE43.2K inverter, and PanelClaw ballasted racking. All products were supplied by partner Greentech Renewables Hayward.
“Sun Light & Power is proud of our partnership with the RYSE Youth Center, an organization that provides a safe space for our most vulnerable young people and offers critical services, including a youth cooling center. The Silfab Solar modules are essential to the vital services that make RYSE a resilience hub for a neighborhood in need. Together, Silfab and Sun Light & Power have made it possible to keep the power on and the doors open, mitigating the impact of heat and power outage events in the community.”

Sun Light & Power contributed to the RYSE Youth Center by designing and building a cutting-edge solar energy system that exemplifies sustainability and community resilience. The system is expected to produce approximately 212 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean electricity annually. This project not only supports the immediate needs of the center but also inspires the youth of Richmond to embrace sustainable practices, ultimately benefiting the wider West Contra Costa County community.
According to the EPA’s (Environmental Protection Agency) calculator, the Silfab Solar panels on the RYSE campus will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel-generated electricity by the equivalent of 165 short tons of CO2 annually (tCO2e/a). This reduction is comparable to the emissions from 32.4 average cars traveling about 371,871 miles in total. These cars would consume 16,863 gallons of gasoline, enough to fill two tanker trucks.
