Silfab Solar’s Itai Suez Receives IEC 1906 Award

September 29, 2022\Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Itai Suez, Chief Technology Officer for Silfab Solar, Inc., has been awarded the 1906 Award by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for his leadership and ongoing technical expertise in establishing and updating international standards for systems of photovoltaic conversion of solar energy into electrical energy and for all the elements in the entire photovoltaic energy system.

Itai is one of five people globally receiving the well-regarded 1906 Award from the IEC-Technical Committee 82.

Since 2010, Itai has been an active member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in Technical Committee 82 (Photovoltaics) revising and developing new and existing documents and standards.

These efforts range from development of CPV/LCPV standards and technical specifications in working group 7 (WG7) to re-drafting system performance standards for bifacial PV systems in working group 3 (WG3). Itai holds a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley, where he specialized in semi-conductor research, paving the way for his future career and passion in silicon-based solar cells and modules

Every year the IEC honors exceptional contributions of individuals. The 1906 Award recognizes exceptional current achievements of experts. The 1906 Award was created in 2004 by the IEC Executive Committee (ExCo) to commemorate the IEC’s year of foundation and to honor IEC experts around the world whose work is fundamental to the IEC. The Award also recognizes exceptional and recent achievement – a project or other specific contribution – related to the activities of the IEC and which contributes in a significant way to advancing the work of the Commission.
