About the Opportunity

Currently, Silfab is seeking experienced and flexible Maintenance Electricians to join their collaborative team in Mississauga, ON.

In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining production equipment, which includes electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic systems, while working from wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and equipment specifications.

Working primarily on voltages up to 600V (AC/DC), you will:

·       Repair and replace electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic and electronic components such as motors, contractors, relays, timers, types of switches, PLCs, light curtains, motor controls, valves, etc.;

·

·       Run new power supply lines to new/relocated equipment according to IEE wiring regulations, Electrical Safety Code and company policy;

·       Wire new control panels according to supplied drawings and verbal instructions while adhering to Hydro Codes and other applicable standards and regulations;

·       Recognize and diagnose faults on electrical equipment or systems, which may involve complex interlocking, interrelated circuits, integrated systems and complex sequencing;

·       Install, examine, replace and repair electronic wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components;

·       Maintain production equipment to maximize operating performance and assist with maintaining electrical spare parts inventory levels;

·       Perform repairs on equipment to restore them to proper and safe work conditions;

·       Perform installation, set up, modification and relocation of equipment to accommodate or improve production requirements;

·       Read/write electrical and electronic schematics/diagrams, basic hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams;

·       Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance;

·       Make trade calculations for load requirements and select appropriate sizes/grades of components in accordance with current electrical code;

·       Ensure production schedule is not jeopardized due to machine break down, or unsafe operating conditions and inform Engineering and Maintenance Manager about changes in electric circuits and update original diagrams;

·       Always follow LOCK OUT procedure on unsafe machines/machines being serviced;

·       Adhere to work orders, preventive/predictive maintenance systems by filling in required forms; and

·       Organize workplace to comply with housekeeping requirements.

In order to be successful in this role, you must have a valid Provincial Industrial Electrician’s license (preferably inter-provincial), knowledge of applicable electrical codes and 3-5 years of experience employed as an Industrial Electrician, ideally within a production environment.

Able to read wiring diagrams, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics and ladder/function block logic, you have working knowledge of industrial PCs and PLCs (Siemens Step 7, Beckhoff TwinCat, etc.) and electric circuitry consisting of contractors, relays, main voltage/control voltage, limit switches and proximity sensors, etc.

Hands-on experience applying hydra-electric, electro-pneumatic and electro-mechanical theories is a must as is the ability to work well with minimal supervision and take initiative.

A proven team player and strong communicator with excellent organizational skills, you will be a great fit for this role if you are able to:

·       Maintain an awareness of the big picture;

·       Understand and use programming devices for troubleshooting and modifying programs;

·       Perform basic wiring work, conduit bending, controls cabinet wiring and general installations;

·       Identify causes of problems while developing methods of correction;

Job Description

Regional Sales Manager – Northeast

As Silfab continues to grow as a leader in the US residential and small commercial PV module market, we are looking for a Regional Sales Manager (RSM) to develop and nurture long-term, trusting relationships with prospective and existing Silfab customers. The RSM’s role is to actively seek new sales opportunities, strengthen relationships by providing exceptional service and integrity with existing and new clients and act as Silfab’s industry expert for a given geographic area.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, characterize and close sales opportunities according to regional scope and company strategies. Sales responsibilities will require high volume prospecting through phone, email and face to face meetings.
  • Serve as the lead point of contact for all customer accounts within given regional scope
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Silfab distribution partner sales teams
  • Act as Silfab’s resident expert on all matters of policy, industry and competitor trends as they relate to the selected regional scope.

    Maintenance and Reliability Manager – Multiple Locations

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Manages, directs, coaches, leads, and motivates subordinate personnel to achieve department goals and objectives in a safe and timely manner.

    • Leads all activities associated with the maintenance and repair of plant equipment in the most efficient and effective manner while maintaining continuous plant operation 365 days per year.

    • Maintains and fosters positive employee-relations and communications both within the Maintenance department and among the plant’s various departments.  
    • Monitors and improves processes, procedures, and equipment to reduce or eliminate safety hazards and risks in the Maintenance Department with a goal of achieving a zero OSHA recordable accident case rate.

    Product Engineer

    Responsibilities:

    • Execute new product introduction (NPI) and engineering change management (ECM) activities related to products manufactured in Bellingham, WA
      • Qualification/validation of new BOM components
      • Prototyping/creating new product designs
      • Organize multi-disciplinary product design stage gate review process
      • Lead DFMEA process
      • Lead PFMEA activities
    • Lead management and maintenance of all product certifications relating to the Silfab products manufactured in Bellingham, WA
    • Support the Product Engineering Team to manage and maintain all extended reliability testing on new products and components including data analysis and report summaries
    • Participate in developing partnerships with research organizations (e.g. UW) that deal with new analytical tools and product testing (both performance and reliability)
    • Participate in the selection of strategic suppliers for standard product supply as well as related R&D activities.
    • Drive value engineering and cost reduction initiatives in improving new and existing product designs
    • Support the technical dept. RMA/RCA process for all products manufactured out of the Bellingham facility
    • Work with product development team in Ontario to establish new and improve existing internal product specifications and qualification requirements from external suppliers
    • Support the operations team for troubleshooting manufacturing processes per ISO 9001:2015 requirements
    • Support continual improvement processes with regards to product design, NPI, engineering change management, new components, and new supplier qualification

    • Responsible for evaluating/presenting “voice of the customer” by researching latest market information and external feedback on the company and its products
    • Collaborate in the planning and realization of start-up activities for NPI transition to operations concerning process tuning, quality non-conformances, and ramp-up of new equipment

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate, direct and work with site-specific Operation Manager and Maintenance & Engineering Manager as well as cross-functionally with Peer Group ensuring engineering staff meet company goals and objectives.

    • Contribute to setting and ensuring the implementation of departmental KPI’s
    • Responsible for setting and implementing equipment & facilities maintenance, manufacturing engineering/facilities strategies, and priorities for the operation.
    • Oversee design & proposal for procurement of capital equipment, change control review and approval, validation guidance and/or oversight, monitoring & ensuring operational compliance,
    • Oversee facilities engineering and maintenance of critical utilities, including chilled water, heating water, HVAC, compressed air, cooling towers, main power feeds/transformers, etc.
    • Oversee and implement site-specific Production Equipment and Facility Maintenance, including the implementation and sustainment of a TPM program.
    • Provides strategic planning leadership by setting strategies and priorities based upon anticipation and application of industry trends and emerging technologies.
    • Responsible for approval on process and equipment-related documentation.
    • Utilize lean principles and tools to improve the overall business.
    • Provide strategic planning leadership to ensure adequate resources are available to complete all business unit and division responsibility.
    • Manage and oversee the design of manufacturing process, tools, procedures and production layouts for manufacturing, equipment installation, processing, and material handling at all sites.
    • Provide leadership and accountability for manufacturing process definition, identification and implementation of beneficial manufacturing technologies, capital acquisitions, tooling design, process optimization and integration in transition to production.
    • Maximize the effectiveness of internal and external resources (direct reporting business unit and cross-functional business units) to meet business objectives.
    • Work within a cross-functional team to assist and direct the development and implementation of new product/process requiring new technologies starting from Project Proposal through Post-launch Quality Assessment and product acceptance.
    • Use experience in cross-functional activities, innovative technologies and lean tools, coordinate and direct activities of teams and individual contributors to ensure optimal performance across all production lines and facilities, ensuring company goals and objectives are met.
    • Create and maintain an environment where team members experience personal and professional growth and develop a self-directed team.
    • Ensure a culture of accountability, team building, mentorship, and continuous improvement throughout the Engineering and Maintenance organization.

    Education and Skills:

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent plus 10 years relevant experience.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software as well as CAD and/or other 3D modeling programs.
    • Demonstrated experience leading and managing Engineering and Maintenance teams in large volumes, 24×7, automated manufacturing and quality process operations.
